The CEAVG is responisble for overseeing eco-tourism in Castro Verde. They encourage tourist to find a pair of binoculars and get ready to spend a few hours gazing into the sky. Crane, migrating from Northern Europe, fly huge distances to spend the winter in the Alentejo. Whether on foot, or by bicycle or jeep, it is possible to follow a variety of ecological circuits to appreciate the bird life that is unique to the Alentejo. The male bustard, which is the symbol of Castro Verde, is often seen in late spring showing off his plumage for the nuptial parades.
