Situated about 11 km south of Figueira da Foz, at the small resort of Costa de Lavos, the powerful waves are a great attraction to surfers and body boarders. The beach is surrounded by dunes but there are good means of access. This is an EEC blue flag beach with lifeguards on duty during the season and an average seawater temperature in summer of 16 ºC. There are bars and restaurants, facilities for the disabled and parking is available.
