The tiny 16th century chapel of Corpo Santo in the old town was built by local fishermen to worship their patron saint São Pedro Gonçalves Telmo. The general Gothic structure and the original portal have been retained. Inside, the walls and the ceilings of the chancel are covered by paintings depicting scenes from the life of the patron saint; these are believed to be by a local artist. In the vestry is the ‘shrine of the three keys’ so called as it required the keys of the chaplain, treasurer and head of the fraternity to open. The altar is 17th century.
