The Corno de Bico Protected Area, to the southeast of Paredes de Coura, is about 2,200 hectares (5,434 acres) and includes the parishes of Bico, Castanheira, Cristelo, Parada and Vascões. It is at present in the process of further development as a tourist facility. The Antela da Cruz Vermelha (Red Cross Dolmen) a Neolithic tomb is in the Corno de Bico and consists of a large boulder with a headstone and an engraved cross painted red, which has been dated to 2500 BC.
