The Convent of Christ cloisters provide a dazzling display of Manueline architecture. The oldest is the Cemetery cloister, adjacent to that of the Laundry which is built around two reservoirs. The Bread cloister dispensed food to beggars, the cloister of Crows is flanked by the aqueduct, whilst the tiny Santa Barbara cloister provides an excellent view of the famous Manueline church window. Finest of all is the 16th century Great Cloister by Diogo de Torralva and Fillipo Terzi, also known as the Cloister of Joćo III and reflecting his passion for Italian art. There is a fountain in the centre.
