Conceição is a small town of farmers and fishermen with quaint houses tucked away down narrow streets and fantastic views of the sea and shoreline. The 16th century church is gothic in origin, which is evident from the beautiful main porch, which has five columns. Although it has undergone a number of modifications since the church was first built, the main chapel has retained its gothic vault and triumphal arch in the Renaissance style. There are statues from the 17th and 18th centuries. Among the items of church treasure is a 17th century silver monstrance.
