Coja is a delightful old village, located approximately 12 km northeast of Argenil on the banks of the river Alva. Apart from its natural beauty and the fluvial beaches of Caneiro da Moenda and Caneiro do Moinho d’Alva, it has a number of attractions. The São Miguel mother church, the 18th century Santo António Chapel, the Senhor do Sepulcro, Nossa Senhora da Ribeira and the Casa do Prior Costa Chapels are all worth visiting. Then there is the 18th century Casa da Praça manor house and the Manueline pillory. The castle here was destroyed during the Christian Reconquest.
