The chapel and house were built between 1515 and 1528. The chapel, which has a flamboyant Manueline tower, is a national monument and has notable sculptures by Filipe Hodart on the exterior. Inside there are tiled panels depicting the story of Adam and Eve and a magnificent sculpture ‘Placing in the Tomb’ by João de Ruão, well known for his work on the Old Cathedral of Coimbra. The fine and varied Manueline windows of the house survive together with a pleasant porch.
