This was the first golf course to be built in the Alto Alentejo and has the historic walls of Marvão and the São Mamede hills providing an imposing backdrop. The clubhouse was inspired by the design of a typical Alentejo house and blends perfectly into the local landscape. The club’s name comes from an ancient Roman town that previously stood on the site and there are still some remains to be seen scattered about the course. Designed by the Portuguese architect Jorge Santana da Silva in 1997, the 18 hole course has undulating greens, a large number of bunkers and four lakes.
