The beautiful Baroque Clérigos Church is also known as Capela Nova. Its design is attributed to Nicolau Nasoni, who was also associated with the church and tower of the same name in Porto and the nearby Mateus Palace. The elegant façade is notable for the ornate portal and the top arch with statues of the St Peter flanked by two archangels. Internally, there are azulejo tiled panels depicting scenes from the lives of St Peter and St Paul and an impressive main altar. A colourful traditional fair is held in front of the church each year from the 27th to 29th June.
