Located about 12 km southwest of Tabuaço, the pre-Roman fortified hill-top settlement of Citânia da Longa was classified as a Listed Property in 1992. Initial settlement in the area is believed to date back to the Iron Age. The stones have been laid in spearhead form and the fort entrance is virtually intact, the remains of a watch tower can also be seen. Two sections of the wall exist, the one in good condition, is a metre wide and two metres high, the outline of the other is still visible as are the walls of the dwellings.
