The old Church of St. Estevão, renamed the Church of the Holy Miracle, was rebuilt in the 16th century. It has a simple façade, but interesting features inside; these include the 16th century azulejos and the statues of St Peter and St Paul in niches before the triumphal arch. The chief claim to fame is the crystal flask in the sacristy said to contain the blood of Christ. The legend has it that a 13th century woman, desperate to recapture the love of her unfaithful husband, took a holy wafer which turned into blood. Four paintings recall the miracle.
