The church of Sant’Iago was erected, it is believed, on the site of a mosque after the Reconquest. Constructed in the 17th century, it has undergone a series of alterations and is currently home to a valuable collection of statues and paintings, many of them from former monasteries. Special mention should be made of the 18th century Nossa Senhora da Conceição in the main chapel and, in side chapels, the 16th century Nossa Senhora a Franca and the18th century Holy Family. In the sacristy there is an interesting statue of the Virgin believed to date from the 15th century.
