The Igreja de São Francisco, although medieval in origin and part of a former monastery, underwent a major transformation in the 19th century. From the original gothic structure the sacristy, with its broad window and vault, and two chapels in the old wall remain. It has an 18th century baroque bell tower. The church houses a statue of Santa Ana offering a piece of fruit to the Infant Jesus seated in the Virgin’s lap, believed to date from the 15th century. In the old gatehouse to the monastery there is a beautiful setting of 17th century patterned tiles.
