The Church of the Third Order of St. Francis (Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco) is set on a beautiful square, resplendent with fountains, statues and pleasant areas to relax and take in the atmosphere. The exterior of the church itself is of little architectural merit, but the interior is well worth a visit. An interesting feature of the fine carved and gilded 18th century retable on the main altar is the highly decorative tabernacle in the form of a pelican, something most unusual in a catholic church.
