The archaeological site of Cerro da Vila allows those coming to see the Roman ruins to discover the various aspects of the daily life of former inhabitants of the Algarve in ancient times. The ruins of a luxurious Roman villa, equipped with baths, a spa and fish-salting tanks that date back to the first century AD are found close to the port area from Roman times. The archaeological remains are characterised by multi-coloured mosaic floors and the outstanding baths. There is also a group of silos from the Islamic period, the foundations of a funerary tower.
