Cerejais is located approximately 8 km southeast of Alfândega da Fé. The Santuário do Imaculado Coração de Maria makes it possible for worshippers, who are unable to get to Fátima, to pay homage to Nossa Senhora de Fátima. The tower was inaugurated in 1962, the Way of the Cross and the Calvary in 1964 and the sculptured stone fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary in 1967. Fatima’s words uttered in 1917 are engraved in the rustic stone of the tower and translate as ‘God wishes to establish the worship of my immaculate heart in the world’.
