The Castle of Lousa in Luz, southwest of Mourão, is a fortified Roman villa dating back to the first century B.C. and it was in use as a castle and living area until the first century A.D. Located in the "Montinho" estate, some eight kilometres from Mourão, the villa is found on the left bank of the River Guadiana, between the mouth of the stream of Lousa, to the North and the stream of Montinho, to the South.
