Alpiarça is a small town situated 7 km northeast of Almeirim and is the site of the former home of statesman and art lover José Relvas (1858-1929). His elegant mansion, on the southern outskirts of the town, was built to the design of Raul Lino in the early 20th century and now houses the Casa Museu dos Patudos displaying the outstanding Relvas collection. The paintings are from European schools and include works by Leonardo da Vinci, Delacroix, Albrecht Dürer and José Malhôa. You will also find porcelain, ceramics, crystal, furniture and one of Portugal’s finest collections of Arraiolos carpets.
