Pechão has been a recorded village since 1593. Originally part of Faro, in 1826 it was integrated into Olhão. Pechão is a typical Algarvean village where almond trees flourish. The small Church is distinguished for being the highest point of the locality and providing stunning views of the region down to the coast. An interesting curiosity is that, attached to the church, is a small Chapel of Bones. The museum, Casa-Museu de Pechão, displays a variety of ancient agricultural implements, traditional embroideries and early country objects. There are cafes and a restaurant, making this an ideal place to visit from Olhão.
