Visitors are greeted by the family coat of arms on the splendid chestnut ceiling of the entrance room. The 17th century William and Mary cupboard in the Tea Salon is matched by an English longcase clock, whilst the Four Seasons room is named after its paintings. Perhaps the most interesting room is the museum, with an 1817 copy of Luís Vas de Camões book ‘Os Lusíadas’ and family correspondence with figures such as Frederick the Great and the Duke of Wellington. The re-modelled library has volumes dating back to the 16th century and the Blue room displays Chinese porcelain.
