The Carvalhal Spa, known as Aldeia da Água (Water Village), is located 27 km north of Viseu in peaceful surroundings, with a landscape which takes in the Montemuro mountain range and the River Paiva. The water combines several elements, such as sulphur, bicarbonate, sodium and fluoride and has a pH level of 9.3 and a temperature of 43 ºC. It is recommended for the treatment of skin diseases, muscular and bone diseases, digestive system diseases and respiratory diseases. There are facilities for the disabled and accommodation is available in season.
