In the small town of Caramulo, southwest of Viseu, is a most unusual and important museum complex. In the 1950s two brothers Abel and João de Lacerda, the one an art lover and the other a lover of cars, each established a museum on the same site. They are both now run by the Fundação Abel e João de Lacerda. In one there are such items as the 1938 bullet-proof Mercedes-Benz ordered for Prime Minister Salazar, an 1899 Rolls Royce and a toy collection, whilst in the other, paintings by such as Chagall, Dali and Picasso and much more.
