An interesting convent situated north of the Santa Clara convent and close to the city walls, its church and 16th century cloisters are open to the public. The cloisters were designed in the Tuscan Orden style by Afonso Alvares, famous as the architect of the São Roque church in Lisbon and the Leiria cathedral. It was in this convent that Infanta D. Maria sponsored the literacy circle where the Sigeias sisters from Toledo, Paula Vicente and Ana Vaz, taught.
