Located approximately 10 km south of Guimarães, on the banks of the river after which it is named, the attractive Caldas de Vizela has three spa complexes, each with multiple springs. With a total of about 50 springs, it is Portugal’s most extensive spa facility. The water is sulphurous, bicarbonated, fluorinated and sodic, with a pH of 9.4 and is recommended for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory system and rheumatic, musculoskeletal and skin diseases. The complexes have accommodation and restaurant facilities.
