Budens is a typically picturesque Portuguese village. An ancient fountain takes pride of place, together with tanks once used for laundry. Long-abandoned windmills surround the village and a traditional lime kiln is also worth visiting. There are three religious buildings worthy of note, firstly the main church, which has carved and gilded altars and a 17th century statue of Our Lady of the Rosary. Next is the Hermitage of St. Anthony, an 18th century building with stunning views from the churchyard. Finally, the Hermitage of St. Lawrence, which was built in the 16th century. The altar is decorated with 18th century tiles.
