Located approximately 17 km east of Lourinhã the town of Bombarral, well known as a fruit and wine producing area, has other attractions. The Municipal Museum is in the Praça do Município and two churches worth visiting are the Madre de Deus and the chapel of Saint Brás. The main buildings are the manorial homes, such as the Solar dos Loridos and the Solar dos Mellos. The railway station has rich early 20th century decorative tiles depicting wine making scenes. The Torre do Carvalhal to the northeast was where Dom Nuno Alvares Pereira’s mother is thought to have once lived.
