Located next to the São Tiago Fortress at the end of the old part of Funchal, the Barrainha Bathing Complex is very popular. The water quality is certified by Blue Flag and there is a lifeguard on duty who watches over both the adult and children’s pools, for those who prefer ocean bathing there is sea access. Other facilities include changing rooms, lockers, a first aid centre, snack bar and a car park. Umbrellas and sun beds can be hired.
