The Bravura dam is an enormous man made lake stretching out beneath broad, mountainous horizons in Moinhos Velhos, a secluded valley located approximately 14 kilometres north of Lagos. Far enough away from the popular tourist areas to guarantee peace, it is an ideal spot to walk and hike and is an area of great natural beauty. Being a protected region, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature without the trappings of tourism found closer to the beach areas. From all around the dam there are excellent view points.
