Barra beach starts from the mole at the entrance to the port of Aveiro and close to the lighthouse. It is a popular and spacious beach and has good conditions for many water sports, including surfing, body boarding, kite-surfing, sailing and fishing. There are lifeguards on duty in season and facilities for the disabled. The beach has EEC blue flag status and an average summer seawater temperature of 16 ºC. Umbrellas can be hired and there are bars and restaurants.
