The Bairro Ribeirinho area of Faro is adjacent to the marina and the railway station, originally the quarter of fishermen and mariners, and today the centre of Faro’s nightlife. The facades of the narrow streets are studded with elaborate stonework and topped with "tesouro" roofs. Worthing viewing are the PaIácio dos Bívar, said to be the finest neoclassical building in the Algarve (early 19th century); the 18th century Solar do Capitão-Mor, a good example of Faro’s baroque architecture; the Casa dos Lamprier, whose windows boast fine mouldings; and the Casa dos Azulejos, built in 1926.
