Formerly the church of the São Domingo’s monastery and consecrated in 1464, it was remodelled in the 16th and 17th centuries. After the banning of religious orders, the monastery was converted into a barracks but burnt down some years later; the church left standing eventually became the cathedral. It has a beautiful baroque portal framed by four twisted columns; the images of the three graces overhead were added in 1719. There are valuable works of art inside, but of particular interest is the late 15th century Gothic cross in the courtyard which stands on a 17th century pedestal.
