The archaeological section of this museum contains finds from around the Setubal region, from Palaeolithic Age to Roman times including coins, Bronze Age pots, and amphorae for wine and garum (a fish based sauce condiment popular in Roman society and used extensively in recipes). The ethnography side illustrates traditional cork and salt processing activities and fishing. It also has sections on linen, wool spinning and weaving, lace and typical regional costumes and various other local arts and crafts.
