The popular Apúlia Beach is located about 10 km south of Esposende, rich in iodine it is part of the Litoral de Esposende Protected Landscape. The old windmills on the dunes have been converted into holiday homes. The beach is suitable for surfing, windsurfing, body boarding, diving and sailing and is also used for volleyball and football. This is an EEC blue flag beach with lifeguards on duty in season and facilities for the disabled. The average seawater temperature in summer is 15-17 ºC. Parking is available, umbrellas and small craft can be hired, and there are bars, cafes and restaurants.
