The Portuguese sculptor António Duarte (1912-1998) donated his art collection to the city of Caldas da Rainha and the António Duarte Studio Museum was inaugurated in 1985. One of the purposes behind the establishment of the museum was to provide workshop space to enable artists to develop their talent. Duarte’s public sculptures, for which he is best known and which are a key part of his work, are covered mainly by sketches and models. There is a section devoted to religious art as well as paintings and medals.
