This museum houses the studio of the leading Portuguese painter António Carneiro (1872- 1930) and is where much of his work was created. Born in Amarante, he died in Porto and an important collection of his work in crayon drawings, charcoal sketches, sanguines, aquarelles and oils is exhibited here. The Museum is being expanded to provide public facilities and apart from the work of António Carneiro will also exhibit work by his Porto born son Carlos Carneiro (1900-1971), whose work was greatly influenced by French artists.
