For this tour of the park, enter from Mondim de Basto, located about 37 km northwest of Vila Real. The village of Ermelo, about 17 km southeast of Mondim de Basto, received its charter in 1196 and you can visit the church, the pillory, the sacred way and museum. You will also see Espigueiros, used for the storage of grain. Continue via Fojo to Varzigueto, where, at the entrance to the village, there is a 300 metre high waterfall, the Fisgas de Ermelo. The tour continues to Barreiro, passing the church of Senhora da Graça, through Fervença and back to Ermelo.
