Algoz is surrounded by orange, fig and almond trees and is typical of the Algarve, with old houses, ornate chimneys and modest whitewashed hermitages. The exterior of its main church displays the architectural simplicity of the 18th century. Inside, it has a number of art treasures. The most spectacular of these would be the 17th century tiles that cover the walls and ceiling of the baptistery. Also noteworthy is the gilded, caned retable in the rocaille style that graces the Capela do Santissimo (Chapel of the Most Holy).
