Set deep inland, just outside Alcoutim, is the attractive Pego do Fundo river beach. A small dam traps the waters of the Cadavais stream making an ideal bathing area with shady gardens, a beach volleyball court, gymnastic apparatus, a car park, a bar, restaurant and changing rooms with showers. The beach also has its own lifeguard. It is also equipped with a Tiralot (a specially adapted chair, fitted with buoys, plastic wheels and an aluminium structure that then floats), providing the means for disabled people to make their way easily down to the sand and water. This is a must visit amenity.
