Located about 14 km south of Viseu, in the Dão valley, an area of vineyards, pinewoods and apple orchards, is the Alcafache Spa set in a 20,000 square metres. The spa water is fluorinated, sulphurous, bicarbonated and sodic with a pH of 8.4. It is recommended for the treatment of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases and diseases of the respiratory system and there are programmes for both preventive and regenerative treatment. In addition to its normal activities, fishing is available and the spa co-operates with the local tourist organisation to provide a varied programme of cultural entertainment. Accommodation is available in season.
