On Agualva’s coast is the nature reserve of Alagoa da Fajãzinha. This beautiful, tiny foreland, perched at the foot of the sloping coastline, is the only fajã on Terceira. A fajã is a stretch of flat foreland at sea level that originated from a cliff collapse. This is a well known and popular tourist attraction, much appreciated by fishermen and nature lovers. The nearby belvedere da Alagoa provides spectacular views along the coast and towards the interior of the island.
